Hello, and welcome to La Grande Main Street Downtown! This blog will be the go-to place for news and features about what's going on in Downtown La Grande, and what our local Main Street group is up to!
If you're new to this space, La Grande Main Street Downtown is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization dedicated to the revitalization of La Grande's Historic Downtown District. We do this through the implementation of the Main Street 4-Point approach, which is used to revitalize historic downtowns across the country. We are primarily a volunteer-based organization, with a highly active Board of Directors made up of local business owners and community members, as well as committees that organize and implement our programs, events, and initiatives. If you've spent a good deal of time Downtown, you've seen the results of these programs first-hand! LGMSD organizes events like the Eastern Oregon Beer Festival, the Downtown Halloween Trick or Treat, and the Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting. We also provide the Flower Baskets that hang from Downtown streetlamps each year, we provide workshops and presentations for local business owners, and we help administer business and building grants like the City of La Grande's Facade Grant, and the Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant. If you'd like to know more, or are interested in volunteering, you can contact our Executive Director Taylor Scroggins at director@lagrandemainstreet.org. He looks forward to hearing from you!
